Barrowden jaunt

Today, I went north to Barrowden to do "Morcott and Back". 31 chaches, and a few extras. I got back to the car at 2pm, had lunch, then took the bike out again for some drive-bys.

I finished the day with a special cache; it was in an old railway tunnel. First I had to find a way into it - there's no public footpath to it. I went to a place that I don't think I was supposed to be, then made my way down the cutting to the bottom; it was quite slippery on the way down. Then I went along until I saw this.

You can see the near end of the tunnel. And you can see the far end in the distance! I had to walk nearly the whole length of the tunnel, and all the time it was dripping on me. My trusty head torch was rather dim, I think the batteries needed recharging, but I also had my very bright hand torch.

I found the cache easily, came back through the tunnel, and climbed back up to the top of the cutting, to get back to the car. This was my favourite cache today.

  1. Looks like a fun cache. It reminds me of one we did early in our caching career, but the tunnel is curved so that in the middle you cannot see light from either end. http://coord.info/GC1YBQ2
