Wifi in the Magic Kingdom, part 2

Further adventures in trying to get connectivity to my office systems.

I tried again today. In the morning just before breakfast, I got one of the concierges to talk to Swisscom. All we could do, is get a shortcut dialling number to them, and to report the problem.

Just after lunch, I tried again. Swisscom said it was with their technical people, no guess as to how long this might take.

So I went back to the concierges. This time we made some progress - Swisscom are now saying that this is a Disney issue, that they are only doing what Disney has told them to do.

So I asked the concierges to escalate this within Disney. This will, of course, take a very long time. Days or even weeks. Meanwhile, the concierge had an idea. Instead of using the free Wifi system, I could use the wired system for only 50 euros per week. I said, OK, I'll do it, but first let's check if it'll have the same problem. Half an hour of phone calls later, he was able to determine that yes, I can fork out 50 euros and still have the same problem.

Then one of the concierges suggested that I could use his own personal VPN, and he gave me a login to it.The problem then, is that I don't have VPN software on this computer, so I can't really use it.

On the other hand, there's some good news. I did two virtual caches in Disneyland.

  1. I have vpn set up on mine but since moving to bt I have dynamic ip which means if it resets I can't log in as I have no idea what my IP address is unless there is someone at home who can check.
